While troubleshooting issues on your Windows 10 PC, you might want to know the device driver version and install date of the driver. We have previously covered how to check the driver version number. This time around, we will see how to check the driver install date in Windows 10.

You likely know that all installed drivers appear neither in the Programs and Features section of the Control Panel nor in the Apps section of the Settings app. Only graphics and audio drivers usually appear in the Control Panel. So, we cannot use the Control Panel or Settings app to find out the install date of a device driver other than graphics and audio drivers.

Very few PC users know that there is an easy way out there to know the install date of a device driver. We can use the Device Manager to find out the install date of a device driver in Windows 10. Here is how to check the install date of a driver in Windows 10.

Know the install date of the device driver in Windows 10

Step 1: Open the Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and then clicking the Device Manager option.

Step 2: At the Device Manager window, look for the device entry whose driver’s install date you want to find out. For instance, if you want to know the install date touchpad driver, look for its entry.

Step 3: Right-click on the device’s entry (whose driver’s install date you want to know) and then click Properties to open the driver’s properties dialog.

Step 4: Move to the Details tab. In the Property drop-down box, select First install date to see the original install date of the driver in the Value section. If you want to know the date when the driver was updated to the current version, select Install date option instead.

You might get the same date for both First install date and Install date if the driver has not received any update since the install date or if you have stopped automatic driver updates in Windows 10.
