If you are a Spectrum Internet customer, you have free unlimited access to thousands of Spectrum’s national WiFi hotspots. Simply connect your devices one time to Spectrum’s WiFi and your devices will automatically connect any time you are within range of a Spectrum Hotspot.

But how do you find a Spectrum WiFi hotspot? How do you connect for the first time? How many devices can you connect at once? Read on for the answers to some of these frequently asked questions.

Where Are Spectrum WiFi Hotspots Located?

Spectrum has WiFi hotspot locations that are indoors at cafes, malls, stores, coffee shops, and other commercial locations. Spectrum also has WiFi hotspots that can be found covering outdoor locations such as parks and courtyards.

As seen in the Spectrum WiFi hotspot coverage map, these hotspots are mostly located on the east and west US coasts, and near major US cities.

How to Find a Spectrum WiFi Hotspot

You can search for Spectrum WiFi hotspot locations using their Access Points map. You can also find this map on the MySpectrum app by searching for the Spectrum Access Points map. You’ll be redirected to Spectrum’s website where you can enter an address or use the location tracker to find hotspots in your current location. The map has a zoom feature that you can use until you come across a hotspot near you.

Once you find one, it will tell you whether the hotspot is meant for indoor or outdoor use and show you the coverage area of the hotspot. It will also show you how many feet the hotspot covers. If it is a partner hotspot, the SSID will be provided so you can find the network on your device. The results will also inform you who can use the hotspot and whether a Spectrum Internet Profile is required.

Who Can Use a Spectrum WiFi Hotspot?

Spectrum Internet customers have unlimited, free access to Spectrum WiFi hotspots.

If you are not a Spectrum Internet customer, you can sign up for a free trial of Spectrum’s WiFi hotspots. This trial will allow you to use Spectrum’s WiFi hotspots for up to 30 minutes per month.

After this, your device should automatically connect anytime it is within range of a Spectrum WiFi hotspot.

Connecting Manually as a Non-Spectrum Internet Customer

If you’re not a Spectrum Internet customer and want to connect using Spectrum’s WiFi hotspot free trial:

  • Locate the Spectrum WiFi network on your device. Instead of signing in using a username and password, select the Other Ways to Connect option. Click the Get a Free Trial option. Enter your cell phone number and zip code to obtain a code. Enter the code sent to your phone and click Connect.

Connecting Using the MySpectrum app

If you prefer, you can download the MySpectrum app to any device you wish to connect to Spectrum’s WiFi hotspot. This connection option is intended for Spectrum internet or mobile customers only. Once you have set this up, you’ll automatically connect to any Spectrum WiFi hotspot you are in range of.

How Secure Are Spectrum WiFi Hotspots?

Spectrum WiFi hotspots use secure sign-in methods and authentication protocols; however, if you’re concerned about security and want an extra layer of protection, you can set up a Spectrum WiFi Plus Profile.

If you are a Spectrum internet or mobile customer, you can download the MySpectrum app and set up a secure profile for Spectrum WiFi. Once you’ve installed the profile, your device will automatically connect to a more secure WiFi network whenever you’re in range of a Spectrum WiFi hotspot. This adds an extra layer of security and only needs to be done once.

With Spectrum, you and your family can use devices at the same time under the same profile. Spectrum allows up to 15 devices on the same profile and 5 devices can actively use the same Spectrum WiFi hotspot at the same time. Bottom line: Spectrum makes it easy to enjoy secure, high-speed internet on the go.
