The upcoming Cortana-powered speaker produced by Harman Kardon seems pretty interesting, even if we don’t have many details on the product so far. What we do know is that it will push Microsoft’s digital assistant to the next level.

Cortana and music playback

If you already installed the Windows 10 Creators Update, you might have noticed by now that Cortana has become better at music playback control. You can now use it to play music from Microsoft’s Groove Music app, but the app also integrates with the TuneIn Radio and iHeartRadio apps. Playing your favorite music on a connected speaker is the coolest feature and the Harman Kardon speaker won’t disappoint its users in this regard.

Harman Kardon Invoke

According to MSPoweruser, the update has already begun rolling out to a few users of the Cortana Android app, with its newest version bringing a setup page for the connected speaker called the Harman Lardon Invoke. The Invoke will support other popular streaming services besides Groove such as TuneIn Radio, iHeartRadio, Pandora, and Spotify.

This whole experience doesn’t seem to be perfectly polished just yet as the description on the Spotify page, for instance, is for Pandora. Ultimately, supporting Spotify is a must as it’s one of the most popular out there with over 100 million active users since June 2016.

Not everybody got the update for the Cortana app on their Android phones yet, but the new dedicated Devices section points out that the Cortana-powered speaker will be revealed pretty soon. There are only a couple of weeks left until the Build 2017, and we hope to hear more about all this then.
