Microsoft brought some exciting news at Build 2018 and some of it targets the Fluent Design. Windows 10 April 2018 Update began rolling out last week, and it’s not far-fetched to say that it marks a massive step towards a complete transition to a brand new design language. During the developer conference, the tech giant announced that the Fluent design would be expanded beyond the Microsoft Store and it’s set to reach Win32 software as well.
Fluent Design is heading towards Win32 programs
This means that developers will have the opportunity to add acrylic and other exciting effects included in the Fluent Design to their programs. This way, Microsoft will be able to provide a modern experience across Windows 10 regardless of user adoption. Until now, the Fluent Design language has been limited only to Microsoft’s own software.
The statement is part of Microsoft’s official notes regarding the ways in which Microsoft 365 empowers developers to create smart apps.
Updates helping you support the Fluent Design System so that you can create immersive, deeply engaging experiences with Microsoft’s updated design language. Now every organization can make beautiful solutions that empower your customers to do more. With UWP XAML Islands, you can access the more capable, flexible; powerful XAML controls regardless which UI stack you use—whether it’s Windows Forms, WPF, or native Win32.
If everything goes according to plan, Win32 programs with Fluent Design could be available in the Windows 10 Redstone 5 Update. If not, Windows 10 users will have to wait until Microsoft rolls out the Windows 10 April 2019 Update.
